Lodge Gathering
Dates: 18/10/08, 24/10/09
Celebrate the Aberfoyle Mushroom Festival in style and meet at the Lodge for an evening of family entertainment. With live music and mushroom themed food; this will be a popular event so book early to avoid disappointment. See Press and Posters nearer the time for more details.
Halloween Party Night
Dates: 31/10/08, 31/10/09
Magicians, jugglers, ghost stories by the campfire, candlelit ghost walk, arts and crafts, lucky dip and dooking for apples. Bring a torch. All children must be accompanied. Tickets are limited for this popular event, which is regarded as one of the highlights of the season. BBQ and drink included. Early booking is advised to avoid disappointment.
Christmas Celebrations
Dates: 6/12/08, 7/12/08, 8/12/08 and more
Christmas trees will be on sale at the David Marshall Lodge throughout December between 10am and 4pm. The Visitor Centre also offers a range of beautiful forest walks and a Christmas Treasure Hunt. Speciality Christmas foods available throughout December from The Bluebell Café. The annual visits by our the Lomond Mountain Rescue team remain as popular as ever. At weekends throughout December there will be a number of festive activities with Forest Rangers on offer. These include the opportunity to make your own Christmas decorations, learn about the importance of feeding the birds through the cold winter months and make your own birdie treats for your garden. £1 fee to cover cost of materials.
Winter Bird Day
Dates: 7/12/08, 6/12/09
Displays and advice on cheap ways to feed the birds in your garden using kitchen scraps and the opportunity to learn how to identify the birds in your garden. There will also be displays and information on wintering wild fowl and the best places to see them. Local specialities available from the Bluebell Cafe.
Easter Fun Day
Dates: 12/04/09
Fun packed day of Easter surprises; Easter Treasure Hunt including; Diving Ducks - rubber duck races at the waterfall start at 12 noon & 2pm. The winning duck owners from each race will get a small prize. There will also be birds box building, children's nesting birds & egg activities & spring guided walks by Forest Rangers.
Ospreys return
Dates: 19/04/09
An event to celebrate the return of the Trossachs ospreys from West Africa. Visit the bird of prey viewing centre at the David Marshall Lodge and watch the osprey drama unfold live on camera. Includes Ranger led bird of prey walk at 2pm, fun children’s activities and much more. Children must be accompanied. Local specialities available from the Bluebell Cafe at additional cost.
Bat Watch
Dates: 29/08/09, 12/09/09
Find out more about bats in the forest with a talk & guided walk. Stout footwear & wet weather clothing required. Also bring a torch and midge repellent! Refreshments will be provided.
